The waffle and ice cream were a complete disappointment. Visited early Jan 2026, waffle not freshly madd but re-heated in microwave, was then served rubbery and turned stone hard! Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3 Price per person: R 200–300

First time ever we've had a complaint about our waffles. None of our waffles are heated in the microwave.

Absolutely mediocre and waste of time and money! We should have checked the recent reviews of this place, as it seems that we were not the only people that had a bad experience. We went for an early dinner at 17h00, to end a fabulous Stilbaai holiday. Apparently all the tables inside were booked on a Monday night. We had to sit outside, hot as hell and uncomfortable! Ordered a pepper sauce with the steak. Had to send it back, because it was cold and looked like a pink thousand islands salad dressing! The manager explained that it was Jimmy's pepper sauce from a bottle. They can only make fresh mushroom, garlic and cheese sauce. We then changed the sauce to a garlic sauce, hopefully freshly made this time! Received a mushroom sauce and a different version of the so called "pepper sauce". Not pink anymore, but tasted just as bad. Left at about 19h00, most of the tables inside still empty..... Maybe if you're a local, you will have better luck at this restaurant. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: R 400–500

We went to On the Rocks this afternoon for an early dinner. Time was just before 5pm. We were greeted by an empty dining place with only two other patrons and a few spaced reserved. The waiter was eager to assist but was quickly called by the manager and we were informed that they are fully booked. This caught everyone off guard as the place is 98% empty, with 70% of the tables unreserved. We came to the conclusion that either they simply did not like us or most likely the fact that we are foreigners. This ruined our previous core memories of Stillbay. Will never recommend and will most definitely never revisit them. This accounts as the worst experience at any South African restaurant thus far on our trip. Service: 1 Meal type: Dinner

Sorry you had a bad experience with us. However we have to give priority to our customers who have taken the trouble to book their tables in advance. The restaurant may have looked empty at the time but the customers who booked were on the way. Giving away a booked table is not an option for us.
