I asked if we could do no salt on a chicken and pineapple fried rice for my toddler and didn’t expect much, as for most restaurants it’s unavoidable due to the prepared seasoned meats and all that so I wasn’t expecting a healthy meal tonight for my kid tonight. But turns out the chef put a lot of effort into preparing our fried rice, and I feel the urge that I must come back and leave a 5 stars comment. I dont know how he did it but the meat was close to plain, as well as the pineapples too, and the rice was fried with the darken soy sauce I believe, which is much lower in sodium but kept the brownish colouring and flavour. It definitely took him longer to make this dish and I just didn’t want his effort go unnoticed. These kind of professionalism and attitude towards their food definitely make them stand out from the crowds. Thank you, will for sure come back! My friend and I were ordering online as we were hungry and on the way to Cloverdale to pick some stuff up, so we obviously went for O My Tea Cafe with a semi-large order. After 20 minutes of driving over, our order was not done yet (that’s fair), so as we’re watching one of the ladies put one of the bubble waffles on the counter, it falls onto the ground and she proceeds to put it back on the counter. We let it slide as it was still in the bag and say nothing as we understand. Fast forward as we get our food, Im sitting with my bubble tea and my friend wanted a couple bites out of her food before we hit the road again. Lady refused adamantly to give us cutlery, and then had a male employee come to tell us we weren’t allowed to eat their food in the store if they were in take out boxes because they weren’t a “fast food restaurant”. We understood having a reputation, but there was literally no one in the restaurant that cared, plus, how did they expect me to eat my bubble waffle? On a plate???? They gave me a bag I’m utterly confused that they want to promote themselves as an upscale cafe but have boxes laying around, unsanitary food protocols, and not let customers even eat a bit of their food in takeout boxes. As we mentioned that, we DO NOT want people eating takeout box inside our restaurant. Ordering takeout online is the way you don't want to dine in. And we are not an UPSCALE restaurant and we are not McDonald's or food court too.
