On a day where it was about 28 or 30° or something I went to get a cold drink. The guy tells me they have no pop or anything cold except for kombucha that doesn't have caffeine. I asked him why not and he said because we're a café. He said, if you want pop, why don't you go down the street. The place is very interesting building. They have a really nice outside patio. However, it is quite loud inside and there's no comfortable seating if you just want to sit quietly and read or something., and it just kind of reeks of snottiness and attitude. How hard is it to get a refrigerator and some non-caffeinated cold drinks in there. Instead of telling people to go down the street. Came in for brunch and ordered the pork belly Benny, matcha calamansi drink and the tiramisu crossaint. The Benny was honestly SO amazing, it was decadent and the flavors were on point. 10/10 However, I was disappointed in the quality of their tiramisu croissant. It seems like either the dough was underproofed or that it was stale, because the texture was not that good and it didn't have that classic crossaint flakiness. I think for how much quality was in the rest of the items I ordered, I expected the same from their crossaints. As someone that's really into crossaints, I would give them a 4/10. Still, the food was overall really delicious and I was still left pleased with the experience! Will definitely be back for another pork belly benny! HONEST REVIEW!! I may be a hater but I'm just trying to get my honest opinion out there about my experience at Nemesis Coffee GNW and I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels the same way. I decided to give this cafe a try since I've heard so much about it and it's within such a close walking distance from my house. I made it a point to head there early (9:15am when I got in line) since I've heard that they tend to sell out of everything in the afternoon. So I got there with the intentions of having brunch at 9:30 and the lineup wasn't bad - I placed my order for and first thoughts were why is everything so goddamn expensive!? Right by a school too (Emily Carr University) where students live off of coffee.. location just didn't make sense to me. I waited more than half an hour for everything to come to me and I wasn't impressed. The staff are so nice but super slow. I checked my watch and saw that I received my order at 10:10am.. CHAI LATTE W/ OAT MILK Nothing fancy about this drink - it tasted like a regular chai latte with not a lot of chai flavour. $5.5 in total (+$1 for oat milk) PORK BELLY BENNY Although this tasted yummy, it costed $14 for JUST a single portion.. and $25 if you want to double! WTH. The most overpriced benny I've ever had and it didn't even come with sides.. I was actually mad about it. Not only that but my food was cold when I ate it. All in all I didn't really enjoy my experience here as I waited 30+ min for my food/drink and felt that everything was OVERPRICED. Even though the staff were nice and the food tasted good, I don't think it justifies for these crazy prices for their brunch. I only tried their brunch but the experience was so off-putting that it doesn't entice me to try any of their pastries Safe to say that I won't be here again and if you want good brunch, there are waaay better places in Vancouver that have large portions and DON'T break the bank.
