It took about 38 mins from our arrival for starters (literally one platter) to arrive and there were only two other tables seated at that point. We flagged to the manager-cum-bartender that the food was taking quite a while and he tried to lay on some cock and bull story about the order only having been placed ‘15 mins ago’ (which is should be noted was the waitress’s error not ours). The starter was actually quite tasty in its own right despite being tainted with a growing sense of annoyance over the wait times.
Starter done, we figured it would be smooth sailing from then on out but boy oh boy were we ever so wrong. We then waited for mains. And waited. And then waited some more just for good measure. One would think that a restaurant that at max had 4-5 tables to serve other than us at this point us could take less than an hour to prep and plate mains. After 1hr 15mins of agony and by this point seething anger we called it and got the food to go.
Literally ordering McDonalds on Uber Eats would have been a far more pleasant culinary experience than dining at Mythos. Another manager tried to ‘’make up for it” by giving us four ‘free’ slices of baclava (on a R1.5k bill). Trust me that pittance of a desert really didn’t make up for a ruined family celebration.
Downgrading Mythos to Plan “I’d literally rather starve than endure them again”. Good luck surviving the pandemic with service like that. Who knows maybe I’ll get lucky and Mezepoli can reopen in Mythos’s place in due course…a boy can but dream
No temperature check, no sanisitiser, 2 waiters not wearing masks at all or wearing them improperly.
That’s all against the Covid regulations and I will not come back just for this reason.
Food:
The squid heads were boiled and drenching in sauce while we asked for it grilled.
The chicken souvlaki is plain dry and chewy.
No one ever came to check on us during the meal.
Manager repeatedly not wearing a mask.
I won’t set a foot in that place again.
I will stick to the Waterfall Mythos.
