Ot what it used to be based on my last visit. I most probably won't visit it any longer... They updated their menu, which in their minds obviously means smaller portions but higher prices and poor quality to top it up! The Shkembe chorba is probably the only good thing about that place now. Too bad as I really enjoyed it :( Price per person: €20–25 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

I’ve been to Merak many times over the years when visiting Sofia and I always come back. The decor is very quirky with many old trinkets and ornaments spread out along a wooden-design interior. With all of this and the restaurant’s ambience, Merak really emulates the family tavern aesthetic and atmosphere that it aims to achieve and deliver. The restaurant has a great selection of food and if you’re looking for traditional Bulgarian food options AND MORE, you should definitely try this very chill spot when in Sofia. I had the winter salad during this visit and it was a very tasty and unique salad. So glad I picked it. The quality of the desserts is every dessert-lovers dream. A must have after your meal. The homemade lemonade is also a definite must for anyone who likes a sweet drink, on top the variety of alcoholic options. The quality of the food and drink in this very chill “tavern” restaurant proves for a very “unforgettable culinary experience” of “colourful Balkan cuisine”.. as they say on their menu! ️ Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
