The young hostess was professional and very customer friendly. I realize good employees are hard to find here and she certainly stood out as an employee to keep. Such a beautiful view and plenty of wildlife to watch. Food needs work, was good but not worth the price. As a new restaurant, I'm sure that will improve. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

My partner and I have always enjoyed Mattone Italian Kitchen. This was our 3rd time and we had 6pm reservations and were both looking forward to a night away from the kids. Unfortunately the 2 women who were serving all the tables must have forgotten about us as we waited 30 mins at least till we got water(brought to us by the hostess) and then another 10mins till we had our drink order taken! Very surprised by the service. We had to watch 3 tables seated after us get drinks and appetizers before us. Very frustrating and well to be honest we both love the food so did not eat prior to coming big mistake this night as the service was bad and the food took forever. I got up and left and walked home to relive the babysitter and my husband brought the food home in the car! Not sure yet if I will return. Perhaps I’ll feel different in the morning. ‍♀️

In our opinion one of the best meals I have ever eaten ! My background is in food prep and have very high standards when it comes to eating out ( ask my friends who put up my complaining when things aren’t “right”!! Laura (our server) was amazing . My husband ordered a cup of the in-house seafood chowder (which we shared) - fantastic. Lots of identifiable seafood and veggies in a delicious creamy base . Laura was holding 2 glasses of cola for another table as she walked by the pass and saw the chef plate our pasta and risotto dishes- she left the drinks and brought our food over - a huge plus in my books as warm/cold food is my biggest turn off. The food tasted amazing - hot (as chef expected it to be) every mouthful was delicious. Not a meal I was expecting to get in Campbell River I must say. Chef Ryan knows what works and I can only wish him all the best as he enjoys cooking for his hometown folks.
