-New edit-. Redemption arc updated review: Today’s lunch was splendid. The kitchen clearly took my previous experience seriously, which I truly respect. I was glad to see that my advice from Armenian cooking and plating techniques for meat was incorporated. The filet mignon was steaming, medium rare throughout the entire steak, uncut, and served on a hot plate. Every bite was tender and flowed smoothly. I had my redemption with the steak, and that alone makes me want to come back to Major Tom again. I was also pleased to experience the same excellent waiter and hostess service as before. Your customer service team is wonderful and does a splendid job. If this level of service and cooking remains consistent, I will absolutely be returning frequently. I hope to see you again soon. (Old review, 1st experience):. A Steakhouse Should Never Make These Mistakes This was my first time visiting Major Tom Bar, and I arrived with high expectations. I came in for lunch time with my colleague (December 9th), especially for the steaks they pride themselves on. I ordered a filet mignon, medium rare. What I received was nowhere near acceptable for a restaurant charging premium prices. The steak came out already pre-cut and placed on a bone-cold plate, a rookie mistake that every chef should know to avoid. Serving a steak on a cold plate guarantees it will lose heat instantly, and that’s exactly what happened. Within minutes, I was eating a cold steak. On top of that, half the steak wasn’t even medium rare, leaving me chewing through tough, undercooked/ over seared pieces instead of enjoying a tender cut. At $60, a filet mignon should arrive hot, perfectly cooked, and presented in a way that maintains its temperature where if i were to cut open the steak it shouodve been steaming. Instead, it felt careless and rushed. To make matters worse, the bourbon sauce I paid an extra $13 for was also served cold. Sauce is supposed to complement the steak and served hot, not contribute to its temperature dropping further. It only highlighted the lack of attention coming out of the kitchen. The mushrooms and stuffed chicken were genuinely good — which was the only saving grace from the kitchen. But when your reputation is built on steak, failing that centerpiece item is a huge red flag. I was tempted to come to the chef that cooked my steak and question their methods. I want to be clear: my waitress was fantastic. Attentive, friendly, and absolutely not at fault for the kitchen’s mistakes. Service was solid — execution from the chef was not. I’ve worked with meat all my life, Armenian BBQ specifically. So I know what proper cooking technique looks like for every possible meat from my culture. This filet was a disappointment on every professional level. At this point, my desire to give Major Tom Bar a second chance is very questionable. End result, a pricey bill and left sorely dissapointed. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $100+
