For Rotterdam this is a decent place to come for a meal. It’s just that everything didn’t go as smoothly as I would have liked for a nice dinner out with my family. It took a while to get the wine list and the bar program was a bit sparse for a restaurant doing a 4-course menu style meal I would expect a bit more of robust options regarding drinks. Nonetheless, we also poured all of the second and third glasses of wine ourselves, which is fine, but if you see an empty glass as a server why not refill? Especially when those bottles are €75-100. We probably would’ve gotten a third bottle if the drink service was a little more on point. That all being said, the person doing drinks~ I think her name was Floor (spelling?) saved the night helping us with options etc. She was fab. Our server and the food runner were a bit… weird? With a bit of a performative “I know food better than you” vibe that was a little off putting. Raw fish course needed acid and balance, brussel sprout tarts were the best dish of the night, squid noodles with radicchio were like a bitter bomb went off in our mouths… we couldn’t eat it, with delicate squid… this dish felt like it needed some reworking. And I really never send things back but that dish was hard to eat. Thankfully they gave us new mains with new sides which were very nice and saved the meal. The chocolate terrine was lovely and decadent. The bread and butter were nice. All in all fine but not really exceptional like I was hoping from reviews and recommendations. Missing some warmth in service and there were just some missteps in the flow of the evening. Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Lux is always a great choice. They have an excellent natural wine list, the food consistently delivers, and the service is top-notch. I’m always happy to come back again and again. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Restaurant LUX of chef Milan Gateric offers a high level cuisine at very fair price. Delicious vegetable plates, awesome desserts, a very nice natural wine list and a good selection of natural wines by the glass. A must when in Rotterdam.
