Was very excited to try this restaurant, especially after visiting so many south east Asian countries. Was expecting a really unique upscale Asian Fusion dining experience in Calgary, to really showcase the enormous flavours of the cuisine. Truthfully, food looks great in the pictures, presentation is gorgeous. But flavour was so very underwhelming. The duck was delicious perfectly prepared, but honestly didn't feel like constructing lettuce wraps during a dinner date. The description on the menu made the dish sound very interesting and enjoyable was not expecting it to be assembly required. The duck was delicious but the dish concept fell flat for upscale prices. Snacks of Chips & Dip with Udon chips and Kimchi dip. Was lacking in flavor as well, dip was a super thick concoction of regular dip ingredients with underwhelming to nonexistent Kimchi flavour. Udon chips were like tasteless deep fried eggroll or wonton wrappers. Salt & Pepper Pork Belly, teeny tiny bits that you're given a tooth pick to eat with. seemed awkward. Seating outside on the wrap around patio, felt like an authentic back alley, side street Thailand eating experience. However, we passed on dessert. For many reasons, but most namely an employee spraying table cleaner directly on to the table next to us and not considering the spray landing in our exposed food. ***Staff should be knowledgeable about food safety and spraying cleaners & disinfectant sprays directly on to a cloth or paper towel first, then applying to surface to be cleaned. Not sprayed in airbourne to land on surrounding area or guests. For the price point, the highlight being servers and service are fantastic and welcoming, but food flavour is just not there. We visited Lulu Bar for their late happy hour and truly loved it. The Macadamia Espresso Martini and the Kiwi Gimlet were phenomenal, and we also tried the Watermelon Wheat Ale, which was delicious. We sampled a couple of snacks: the Taro Tots with avocado ranch and the Hot Dog Baos—both were amazing. The tots were super crispy, and the avocado ranch had a nice, mild spice from the togarashi. The baos were incredibly soft and tasted fresh. Jason, the manager, took great care of us and was warm and friendly. I’ll definitely be back on my next trip to Calgary.
