Edit : I wanted to share an experience I had at the cafe on Wednesday night Jan 22 around 11:30 PM ish. For context, I’ve been going to loveless cafe for over 3+ years and brought countless friends for after dinner hangs so I know what I experienced was not the usual norm and your staff is sweet and welcoming. On Jan 22nd when we entered the cafe we asked about the hot cider the person at the counter (they were non binary I believe) said they’ll check and looked in the “fridge” for 2 minutes and said it’s not available. To which we asked “okay then can I get a hot -“ I was interrupted with “no sorry it’s not available either”. Without me finishing what I was asking for. I asked again “you don’t have hot chocolate and baileys?” and we were told there is no hot chocolate. (we wanted the boozy hot chocolate as it was recommended by another bartender last visit when cider had run out) My friend and I both felt it was due to racism. It was disheartening and disappointing The person at the counter was speaking to 3-4 women seated at the bar and probably didn’t want to be taken away from the conversation. And felt like they wanted us to leave. But we were provided no alternatives or recommendations and felt like we were being subtle told “we don’t want to serve you” Again, I’ve been going there since 2022 so I know this is not the usual behavior we expect. Infact I used to go to st Anne’s church before it burnt and that’s how I discovered your cafe. After that experience it left a sour taste in our mouth and I don’t know if I’ll go there again or bring any of my friends out of embarrassment for how we were treated. We believe if the cider ran out the person would’ve known since there was no one else at the cafe except the women at the bar and us. And hot chocolate needs milk and cocoa which should’ve been available. Thank you for reading. Sorry for your bother. (Again all of your other staff has always been nice and polite.) Previous review that does not hold true. I repeat I do (not). Love their coffee and the ambience. They’re open till late and also serve drinks. No food /kitchen here though. Only bakery items.
