tis but a simple, small place, with food made with great care for both presentation and taste, and a charismatic owner to come with. very pleasurable experience overall, not a single person at our table was left unsatisfied about their order, the long wait for lack of staff members was indeed worth it in the end! The gourmet's inn has nothing, neither of the inn, nor of the gourmet. But what it fails most in is hospitality. To be transparent I will explain what happened: we stopped for lunch on a Sunday around 2pm because the children were hungry: once we entered I asked the waitress of Asian origins if she would give us a table in the corner since we were with our dog, a labrador of 30kg. The waitress nods. We sit down and our dog sits quietly under my chair. We order, and here's the first flaw: no pappardelle with wild boar (on Epiphany Sunday, at 2pm, with an empty restaurant? Bah!). We then turn to gourmet tagliatelle and amatriciana. Tomato penne and french fries for children. Abbacchio for second. After a few minutes what I think is the owner returns to the table saying "That animal can't stay there. I don't accept animals". I therefore point out that I correctly asked the waitress if she could come in enough to request a table in a corner, also because making a 30kg Labrador go unnoticed was a little complicated. But I am told that it is not possible because the waitress knows that animals are not allowed inside, effectively calling me a liar. I reply that we could have easily left but (given the empty place) with a pinched face I am kindly allowed to stay. If this is the premise of hospitality, lunch was even worse: overcooked pasta, both the penne and our first courses. The amatriciana made with a burnt amount of onion (yes, the onion in the amatriciana! Sigh!) which made the dish bitter and "slivers" of bacon. Not even a trace of the bacon: a real havoc as well as an insult to Roman cuisine, even more so considering the typical products of Castel di Sangro. The gourmet tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms (same flavor as the ones I buy frozen at the market) and peas (canned?) were surrounded by a sea of cream! The only thing that survived was the lamb and the french fries: the flavor was good, the portions were ridiculous! It makes no sense to want to portion out the dishes at the table. Or rather, it would make sense if one were to order 2 or more portions of the same dish but if I order a plate of tagliatelle which arrive in a bowl and are then "plated" at the table, the only consequence is the cooling of the flat dish which becomes even more overcooked. A useless "frill", but it seems that this thing is not understandable! The place looks very retro which wouldn't be a problem at all if you were at least welcomed in another way and ate decently while respecting a few basic rules. The Asian waitress, however, was kind. Average prices but terrible quality/price ratio. To be avoided without any ifs or buts! Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: €10–20 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
