If you're wandering though the narrow streets of Milan's city center, you might bump into O Live Free (if you're actually looking for it, then it might take a while to find it). This little shop sells the famous Le Marche specialty, Olive Ascolane - that is olives filled with meat and then fried, meant to be eaten while walking around the beautiful town of Ascoli Piceno, but of course the beautiful city center of Milan can be used for the same purpose - or if you want you can have a seat in one of the few high chairs and eat in the shop.
I love olive ascolane so I wanted to love this place but while the olives are really good, a couple of things weren't that good. First, 8 small olives are not enough for a meal, but then 8 olives and 10 cremini (fried cream balls, yummy) are too much and take long to digest. So why not make 10/12 olives options and we'll all be happy? Second of all, the cost with drinks might be a bit high - I know they're Italian quality products but a 12 euro fried olives lunch (plus coffee) everyday can be a bit much for my wallet and my liver - so I'll come back when I'm walking around and want just an olive snack.
They also have take away trays if you want to fry the olives (also cremini, mozarella balls and other specialties) yourself at home.

Nell'era della consacrazione dello street food, anche l'oliva ascolana merita un suo palcoscenico. Qui da O Live Free si possono assaggiare diversi tipi di frittini, ma la regina assoluta rimane l'oliva. Con 5€ ho avuto modo di provare le olive ascolane tradizionali, quelle al tartufo ed una volta miste (di pesce e vegane). Non sono un esperto del settore nè penso si possa dimostrare uno spirito critico particolarmente acuto nel parlare di una sfiziosità così semplice, posso dire a me sono piaciute e trovo l'idea carina! Volendo si possono acquistare le confezioni di olive ascolane e cucinarsele a casa. Meno convincenti le mozzarelline e i cremini, tuttavia sono troppo goloso e tornerò a riprovarle altre volte.
