I recently moved to Montauban, France, at the end of July from India, and my experience here has been far from pleasant, especially when it comes to finding decent Indian food. After just two weeks, I was craving a taste of home, so I decided to try out Le Délice Indien for dinner. I brought along a non-Indian friend, hoping to introduce them to some authentic Indian flavors. As a vegetarian, I ordered "Baigan Bharta" with Garlic Naan and a Mango Lassi. My friend, who had no idea what to order, asked for my recommendation, so I suggested Lamb Biryani and a Kingfisher beer. From the moment we sat outside, things started going downhill. The place was flooded with mosquitoes, and the staff couldn't be bothered to do anything about it. After a painful 15-20 minute wait, my friend's Biryani arrived, and it was an absolute disaster. The quality of the rice was awful, and it looked like they had just fried the lamb and rice together, then dumped it on the plate. There was no trace of that distinctive Biryani fragrance. A few minutes later, my Baigan Bharta and Garlic Naan were served, and I was utterly horrified. The Baigan Bharta was unrecognizable – you can see the pictures yourself and judge whether it even remotely resembles the dish. Try to figure out Baigan in it, it is just a CURRY. It wasn't just bad but it was revolting. But since I was with my friend, I decided to swallow my anger along with the terrible food and paid €55 for what can only be described as a rip-off. Determined to give them another chance, I unwisely returned the next evening alone. This time, I ordered Roti and Palak Paneer. After yet another 15-20 minute wait, the so-called Palak Paneer arrived, and it was nothing short of a joke. The dish was more like a poorly made Saag, and there wasn't a single piece of Paneer in sight – just like there was no Baigan in the Baigan Bharta the day before. When I complained to the owner, who initially spoke to me in English, he suddenly switched to French when I said am an Indian and I know the quality of the food very well. He stopped communicating to me in English. When I started taking pictures of the food, he quickly had the Rotis taken away so I could only photograph the Palak Paneer. The owner then began yelling at me, showing zero respect for a paying customer and offering no apologies for the awful food. I ended up paying another €12 for what was essentially an inedible meal which I did not even taste. The owner’s attitude was terrible – when I mentioned I would leave a negative review on Google, his co-worker smugly replied, "Go ahead, we do not care." This level of indifference to customer satisfaction is mind-boggling. Those who are living in Europe or France and have never visited India or never had an authentic Indian cuisine might be deceived, but anyone who knows what real Indian food should taste like would be outraged by what this place is serving. EXTREMELY LOW QUALITY. The customer service is terrible, and the food quality is an absolute insult to our Indian culture. As an Indian, I am ashamed that this establishment is presenting such a disgraceful version of our cuisine. They clearly lack a skilled cook, and the kitchen's hygiene is also questionable. I could see the owner cum cook going inside and touching the food while he touched many things outside during our discussion. To anyone reading this, I strongly advise you to look up images or videos of the dishes you order online before they are served to you and ask them if they are preparing and can serve exactly the same (at least the food should be similar, taste is not in question as they are serving the extremely low quality). This was an absolutely horrible and pathetic experience. I will NEVER, under any circumstances, return to this disgusting place and would NEVER recommend it to anyone. THINK 100 TIMES BEFORE YOU VISIT THIS HORRIBLE PLACE. REMEMBER, I AM AN INDIAN and I KNOW THE TASTE OF INDIAN CUISINE VERY WELL.
