Enjoyed a delicious meal on the beautiful terrace on the water. Friendly and flexible service from a friendly Dutch couple. We were all very satisfied! Wheelchair accessibility: Outside on the terrace, I don't know inside. Hello, We ate and drank in the La Colonie restaurant. We were received in a professional and friendly manner in Dutch, but in French was also possible. As a beer lover, I looked at the beers on tap and the Triple Karmeliet was immediately a good choice: In the standard 33 cl size, very well tapped and served cool: so much better than from the bottle!! recommended. Unfortunately, the food itself did not go as well: if you order steak you will receive a boiled potato in its jacket!! This establishment is probably the only one in Belgium that serves a potato with steak. For a standard portion of fries you have to pay €2 extra, which we experience as a complete rip-off. In addition to the steak, we also had a regional specialty: Trout with almonds (with potato): the presentation looked colorful and neat: a trout covered with roasted almond flakes, green pagoda cauliflower and purple cauliflower. In addition, a plate with a potato with a teaspoon of herb butter on it, and a fresh salad that looked and was OK. But on the main plate it was a sad affair in terms of taste: the fact that this fish had to die for this is a shame because it was fresh, but steamed and not fried. It was overdone and therefore much too dry. The lack of cooking liquid (brown butter or even melted butter) or any other sauce made the whole thing as dry as tissue paper and there was no further flavor enjoyment in this meal. I would go back for the Karmeliet, but would I like to eat there? No thanks! €2 extra for fries instead of a potato with steak? Is it a coincidence that the operators are Dutch? 2 extra euros in the pocket, and how many times would one eat a potato in a season? Perhaps not much. Cash register, cash register! A self-respecting Belgian would never give a potato with steak. But hey, it's known; the operation of catering in the Ardennes has largely been taken over by smart business Dutch (or a very wealthy Belgian (Durbuy) who, unlike the local population, sees bread in a restaurant with quality products from the region, but in a tastier way than this.
