We visited the restaurant and were initially very satisfied - the ambience and service seemed promising. But during our stay we noticed a mouse in the guest room. When we pointed this out to the waiter, he explained that the problem was known and an exterminator had already been notified. A few minutes later we saw another mouse, which made us feel increasingly uneasy. For someone like me who suffers from a severe phobia, this was the point at which we wanted to leave the place. Unfortunately we couldn't enjoy our coffee or dessert. At the entrance we were charged the full amount despite the unpleasant situation. The only apology was that it was “normal” in Darmstadt. Such a statement is absolutely unacceptable for me as a guest. Mice in restaurants should by no means be viewed as normal – neither in Darmstadt nor elsewhere. This experience was extremely disappointing and I very much hope that quick and lasting measures are taken to remedy such conditions.

I actually eat at L'Osteria quite often but today it was really terrible. The pasta didn't taste good at all, the pasta looked like it was cooked three days ago. The lady at the next table didn't like it either and even had the food returned. Then the service was really bad. We waited in line for quite a long time to be assigned seats (there was no line). Since everything was free, we sat down somewhere. Then a waiter came and told us to get up again and go to the counter to be assigned. Then we were sat back down at that exact table by another waiter. No apology or anything. No salt, pepper or parmesan was brought & we had to ask for it twice. And the plates weren't cleared away either, even though we probably sat there for half an hour after we were done eating. Incidentally, there are now new card readers where you have to click whether you want to tip 10, 15 or 20%, which encourages you to leave a 5 euro tip despite poor service. For me this is the last visit here, sorry! Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
