Ayant vu Vancouver City Hall, c'est le moment de faire une pause dans Kyu Grill. La cuisine japonaise de ce lieu offre des repas authentiques. Beaucoup de monde vient à cet endroit pour goûter un tempura fascinant.
We ordered the JPC and the nori fries when they came to landsdowne. The JPC was $16 and had very little pieces - it was not even half the box it came in. The chicken was overfried and really dry. Each piece was very small so it is easy to overcook. The sauce that came with it was so little compared to the chicken that I couldnt dip half of the chicken. The fries were also overfried. The flavor is supposed to be teriyaki but it seems to be some sort of overly sweet fusion teriyaki sauce. I hope you have better luck with their other items. Judging from previous reviews, something must have changed.
I cannot believe I am writing such a critical review, but I had the popcorn chicken from this food truck. The chicken was not chicken. It was more like a rubber chicken prop that clown/magicians use. I have no idea why it was like this. I'm hoping it was an error on their part.............. man, I've never felt so ripped off.
Honest truth here, I'm not usually a food truck guy, unless i'm forced into it...like at an outdoor concert or at a fairground. So my experience in cuisine doled out of a truck is minimal, that being said, Kyu Grill certainly opened my eyes a bit wider. I ordered the Spicy Mayo "Heroshima", it was the first item on the menu and the picture looked incredible. You know when you sometimes see a picture of the product and when you get it, it looks totally different? Not the case here (check the pic out) and the taste was incredible and make sure you get a few more napkins. The Spicy Mayo is a chicken skewer served on a soft Hawaiian style sweet roll, heavily coated with (some) traditional Japanese toppings: Spicy Mayo Sauce (duh), Green Onion, Tempura Crumbs as well as Sriracha and another sauce that could have been more Mayo. The mouthfeel through each bit is terrific, the soft bun contrast to the protein with the crunchy toppings is near perfect. Also, I found this item very filling in its entirety for $10. It was so good, I already know what I'm going to order next time: The Noriyaki!
