In the past few months, I have ordered take out three times for the full sized chicken and waffles, and for some reason the staff do not give me the whipped cream unless I remind them to include it. This is the same staff that have been there since day one and used do a good job, so I know it’s not just a training issue. The big problem I have with this joint is the price is bordering on extortionate (23% price hike in 3 years, and $5 for a cup of orange juice) and yet they have the audacity to stiff me further on several occasions by intentionally leaving out an item I had paid for, and which is listed on the included items. The food is good, just OK when factoring in the price, and the dine in experience is good enough; but after being one of the very first people to try this quaint diner out when they first opened (the owner made and brought out the pizza for my father and myself and chatted with us for a while, we were the only people there) and thoroughly enjoying everything they had to offer, I just can no longer recommend eating here, nor do I have any desire to take my partner out to eat here anymore. Seems tik-tok stardom during the pandemic got to the business’ head. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3

We've had feedback from many customers who prefer not to receive whipped cream since it often melts by the time it reaches the destination, so we stopped including it automatically. However, we're always happy to provide it upon request, and we regret that this wasn't communicated clearly. Regarding the price increase, we understand your concern. Prices have indeed gone up a few times over the past couple of years, and this is something many businesses, including ours, have had to navigate. Rising costs across the board-ingredients, labor, and general operations-have left us with no choice but to adjust our pricing to stay sustainable. That said, we strive to remain competitive, and compared to similar restaurants, we believe our prices are fair. Of course, we respect that everyone's perspective is different. I'm always on the lookout for new places to eat, especially in my neighborhood. Kook's Cooks is a family-owned restaurant that serves traditional Canadian brunch with a touch of Korean influence. The place is always cozy and inviting, with a friendly staff and a casual diner atmosphere. The menu was diverse and appealing, featuring dishes like bulgogi beef benedict, kimchi burrito, garlic snowing pizza, and seafood pasta. I usually order the bulgogi beef benedict with excellent potato hash. The beef is always tender and flavorful, the eggs are perfectly poached, and the hollandaise sauce is thick, creamy, and a little tangy. The potato hash is crispy and seasoned well. It was a satisfying and hearty meal that hit the spot. I would recommend you order an extra side of Hollandaise sauce. Everyone I take there enjoys the experience. It is a pleasant surprise to find such a quality hidden gem brunch/lunch spot in my area. The food is fresh and tasty, the service was warm and attentive, and the prices were reasonable. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good brunch spot in Coquitlam, Port Moody, or the East side of Burnaby. Parking: Free small parking lot. Then again the restaurant is also very small. Kid-friendliness: Good and fast, and they have booths so you will not bother the other guests. Wheelchair accessibility: No problem but someone will need to hold the door.
