Wow, an authentic Viennese experience for peanuts. This winery has been open since 1787. I had 3 types of white wines: Heuringer, Gruner Veltliner, and Reisling Schone Mauer. I rank them in reverse order. Service was adequate; I was the only English speaker I heard, and they treated me fairly. The dumplings with hot sauerkraut were to die for. Highly recommended! My wife and I visited Heuriger Kierlinger on March 7 by accident, you could say. We took tram D to its terminus to see what there might be in Nussdorf, and alighting from the tram, we were a bit peckish. My wife is a wizard in finding bars and eateries, so she intuitively took us through the unassuming gate close to the tram terminus, along the rather abandoned-looking yard, and finally to the tavern itself, which seemed to have some life in it, at least the lights were on. Entering the establishment, the host suggested we come deeper inside as it is warmer there, and bliss followed. I ordered the Grammelknödel, a traditional Austrian delicacy. It is cubes of pork belly fried crispy and enclosed in a potato-mash ball, served with Sauerkraut. I have seldom tasted anything better. My wife wanted to try the traditional Wiener Schnitzel that came with local potato salad. I got to taste it, and the experience was nothing short of my own. Being a Heuriger (wine tavern), the place does not serve beer. We both had a glass of their house red, a wonderfully subtle and soft wine that did not interfere with the taste of the food, but complemented it. Now I understand if some of you may suspect that this is a paid review as I'm so over the moon, but rest assured, I just am over the moon. :) So, if you find yourself at the terminus of tram D in Nussdorf, you know where to go.
