What can I say: Excellence at Home. In an enchanting place in the heart of the Natural Reserve of the Abruzzo National Park, overlooking the wonderful Lake Barrea, there is a family-run hotel in typically mountain style, made of wood. Superlative staff: from the very kind ladies of the rooms, to the impeccable Director and Chef Antonio, to the very sweet and cheerful Director/receptionist Najat (Nadia), not to mention the SuperHero, the very nice and extremely helpful, as well as professional Head of Sala Giuseppe; everyone is always ready to give you advice, satisfy every need and fulfill every slightest desire, just to make you happy. I would return three thousand times Rooms: Cozy rooms, always clean and in pure mountain style. Nearby activities: Wildlife areas, trekking routes, excursions and more. Walkability: From the hotel it is very easy to reach the center of the picturesque town, as well as the lake via a nature trail. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great view, Quiet, Kid-friendly, Great value

We had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Holidays for two nights. Nice hotel, surrounded by greenery at the base of the historic center of Barrea overlooking the lake. A hotel with its vintage style that reflects the surrounding environment, without denying modern comforts without being invasive. At the check-in we were welcomed by Mrs. Nadia, kind, friendly, but also well informed about the place, typical of someone who loves their work and the area in which they live. He gave us enthusiasm but also a lot of advice on where to go and where to stop thanks to which we managed to make many stops. The room is reminiscent of a cabin, even if it is cool you can rest really well. Peace and silence reign, and I also found the bed comfortable. While the bathroom was simple (sink, bidet, toilet, shower), I must say that the nice wide shower head was a pleasure with that nice hot and abundant jet. The breakfast in the morning was plentiful. Extra requests also available. The croissants are beautiful, large and satisfying. It has its own parking, so it is also convenient for those traveling by motorbike like me. We stayed overnight on 28-29 September so it was a very uncrowded period for tourists. For those who love serenity and not finding crowds, but still enjoying the sounds, smells and views, this is the best time. In the evening the temperature drops early, so dressing in layers was the winning strategy. Climbing the steps of the historic center you could hear the flow of water in the distance and breathe in the beautiful fresh, clean air. In the historic center there are many fountains. In the alleys you can also find some nice and good restaurants. Climbing to the top you reach the castle, which at a cost of 2 euros you can visit, visit the bat museum and the museum (it was closed on Friday, but found it open on Saturday). From the top it is possible to observe the whole of Lake Barrea well, Civitella Alfedena, Villetta Barrea. In Civitella Alfedena there is the Wolf museum, also visited at the modest price of 3 euros. Next to the museum there is the wolf wildlife area, where by being very quiet and patiently waiting you can observe it live. We observed it between 4pm and 5pm. From there we moved to Villetta Barrea, another center to observe. We stopped at the car park above the water museum (unfortunately closed) But going down towards the museum and crossing the walkway, we reached an expanse where we admired the deer in love (a male deer passed us half a meter away) . Moving further on we went towards Camosciara for a trekking route (done early in the morning). Everything is closed there too, but it is still possible to do the routes and you can still find some people walking. Parked in the large car park, we headed on foot towards the camosciara for about 50 minutes of walking where there are then two paths. The path of the water lilies and the three spouts, very easy and comfortable to walk and the path with a beautiful view of the Liscia where you reach the refuge which is also closed at around 1450 meters (a much more arduous route of around 1h30min one way). The advice that was invaluable to us was not to remove them from the path. Moving then to Pescaseroli we took a guided tour in search of the bear. Immersed in nature with dinner at the Cicerana eco refuge with return at night under the stars. A beautiful, unique, recommended experience, immersed in nature, absolutely to be repeated with more time, thanks to the advice of Nadia from HOTEL HOLIDAYS Rooms: Comfortable bed Nearby activities: Wolf Museum + wolf wildlife area. Water Museum. Barrea Castle, museum. Camosciara. Excursions Food & drinks: Abundant breakfast Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great view, Romantic, Quiet, Kid-friendly, Great value
