The two of us stopped in for a little something on the way to Vienna. We found a parking space easily, got a space without a reservation, but it was at a convenient time. Since the guest garden is surrounded by a high wall, we could see a lady's cigarette at the completely opposite end as at our own table. I didn't spend much time inside, but it is a very beautiful house steeped in history. We had: duck liver with Greek yogurt, venison with parsnips and demi-glace, baked elderflowers with vanilla sauce, the chocolate dessert with chocolate cream, meringue and ice cream; plus white wine and the famous Wachau apricot juice. My companion described her wine as extremely tasteful. When it came to apricot juice, it was emphatically explained to me that it could only be diluted. As far as I'm concerned, it shouldn't be a problem. The water we got resembled the fruit only in its color. A shameful treatment of a valuable resource that is contested in the region. Neither of us could taste the duck liver in the yoghurt; The dish would be very tasty on its own as yogurt with honey. The strange pieces of jelly used as an inlay were, in my opinion, very bizarre and disturbing. I found the venison to be the softest meat imaginable with an unusually good sauce and delicately prepared vegetables. The elderflowers were prepared according to the highest art and garnished with plenty of powdered sugar and an extremely fine sauce made from what was probably real bourbon vanilla. The chocolate dessert consisted of solid meringue, a strong cream of white chocolate and a fairly tasteless cream of dark chocolate, plus a green ice cream with no recognizable ingredients apart from milk and sugar. So much for a mixed experience. I wanted to mention the above points of criticism personally to the innkeeper, but he was quick to interrupt me and took the opportunity to disappear immediately after paying. It's a shame actually. In general, it can be said that most of the dishes are certainly good and of high quality, even if I have already eaten something finer and much more for the price. Some bizarre creations can be found either on the menu or unexpectedly when you are actually expecting a traditional dish. That didn't convince me, but there is certainly a clientele that appreciates it. Vegetarian options: Plenty. Parking: Good parking lot right next door. Kid-friendliness: I wouldn't expect it here. Wheelchair accessibility: To my great surprise, I was able to find a disabled toilet, but ironically there are a few steps down at the main entrance.
