What an amazing day a trip from the Drakensburg South Africa to Lesotho. We did the Sani Pass tour and the Mokhotlong tour.We were picked up from our hotel by an experienced Ranger.driven by a 4x4
It takes approximately 2.5 hours to reach the summit ,climbing a grand 2.874 metres above sea level into Lesotho .We stopped to enjoy the breathtakingly views along the SaniPass and the two border post South Africa and Lesotho and we. Needed a valid passport. I was so fascinated and didn't stop clicking my camera. The roads were all gravel and steep.with boulders..
We stopped at top of Sani Pass and enjoyed a scrumptious lunch and a glass of wine at the Highest Pub in Africa .It was so beautiful with a cracking fire place and meeting people from all over the World. Well i took a lot of pictures offcourse.lol.
After lunch the tour continued into a living Basotho Village where our experienced mountain guide provided us with interesting information on Lesotho and its people the hardy, mountainous Basotho folk.Traditional homemade bread was offered to us and it tasted delicious .
Later we headed up Black Mountain for a short walk to view Thaband Ntlenyana the Highest peak in Southern Africa. Lots of pictures were taken by me Sally James 😋.
After that we descended down through the beautiful Sehonghong valley into the remote trading town called Mokhotlong it was once known as the most remote outpost under the British Empire.
We took in all the beauty and history of this beautiful Country. And made memories that i share ...
We then headed back to Sani Pass mountain lodge for Afternoon tea and cake. And we then drove back down the mountain back to our Hotel to relaxand take in the days adventurous exciting experience....by Sally James
