We have enjoyed going here for dinner for several years. The dishes are varied and seasonally adapted. In our opinion the prices are very fair. The service is very friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is very cozy both in winter and summer. Yesterday I ate a schnitzel with hunter's sauce and, to my great regret, discovered that it was frozen goods. The breading crumbled off and you could tell the schnitzel came out of the deep fryer. Unfortunately, the taste of the hunter sauce was very bad. I'm only rating this dish that I've eaten better here. Addendum: I will definitely be your guest again and consider this an exception. While looking for a place to stop for lunch on Whit Monday, I stumbled across the Alte Schmiede Bauschheim website and made a reservation for the 6 of us (3 couples). At 1:30 p.m. we were invited into the “culinary living room”. Since the weather cooperated, we were kindly shown to a shaded table on the garden terrace at our request. Since each of us had already looked at the seasonal and standard menu (download online), the order was placed quickly. The different dishes were not just a visual delight. In terms of taste, the self-promotion (delicious, down-to-earth, homemade favorite dishes) was exceeded. We all unanimously agreed. You could see and taste the attention to detail on every plate. Whether the octopus ceviche, the classic Angus burger with old style BBQ sauce, the calamari (with fine roasted aromas) from the grill, the vegan mushroom ragout with homemade dumplings, or the regional Odenwälder pork meat were a real culinary delight at acceptable prices. There is/was nothing to criticize about the staff. On the contrary, “our” waiter had the gift of interspersing pointed comments, which put all the guests present in a good mood. The bottom line is that we really felt like we were in a culinary living room at the Alte Schmiede Bauschheim and we would be happy to come back to such friendly and nice hosts. Also just to make me forget a little bit of sadness. As a driver, I had to practice abstinence, which was a challenge given the selection of wines and the possibility of tasting most of the wines with 0.1 glasses.
