The Big D Demander la suppression d'informations
There has been a lot of word on the street that Khao San and Pai have been battling it out. So you ask which side does the big D take. I rated both of them 5 stars as they both deserve some love. But if your asking me to be a one woman kind of guy... I'm gonna have to give it to Khao San. Food taste a bit better, atmosphere is more my style and let's just say it was the original after all. Originals never go out of style.

Wife was craving some thai food for a long time since we watched a lot of Mark Wiens youtube videos (his food travels clips in Asia). After some googling, the logical conclusion was to try the restaurant called Khao San Road located in downtown Toronto (I'm not used to paying for parking). We almost couldn't find the place but saw the partly lit neon sign. The seating arrangements is similar to Salad King where everyone is squeezed together like cafe style. You can hear people's conversations next to you.

Food Rating: 5/5 - I would definitely go again. It was definitely back and there seems to be an endless flow of students coming into the restaurant. It is definitely expensive for a lunch menu.

So my friends are in Toronto visiting. They want to go to the CN Tower, and being that I want to avoid shelling out $35 for something I've seen 5 times (4 times too many), I opted to have lunch by myself while they enjoyed that.

Enter Khao San Road. By all my friend's accounts, this place is the quintessential Thai restaurant in Toronto. The constant long lines, great reviews, and good word of mouth led me to thinking that it would be a mistake not to give it a go. Thinking that it was almost the end of lunch time, I thought getting a seat for 1 shouldn't be too tough....

Took about 30 minutes to be seated at the bar. I skipped some larger groups which made me feel a bit bad, but not really. They were still offering some lunch specials so I thought I'd go for the Gaeng Kaew Wan. I've had it at Pai before and I thought I would give it a go here, though I've heard the Khao Soi is incredible. The green curry was light and I liked that. The spices used gave it such a nice kick. The chicken was nothing special. Replace that with any meat and I probably wouldn't notice. The key is how good the curry was. Bit thinner than I would like, but taste was great.

The wait here is perpetually long. It is insane how well they are doing and I am happy for them. The servers were pretty stoic for me, but then again, they ARE dealing with a place full of patrons constantly so no judgment here. Great Thai food at a decent price. Worth coming to, but avoid the large groups.
