This was by far the worst hut we slept in during our hike in Karwendel. Though the rooms were nice and recently refurnished, the hospitality was really bad. We had Halbpension and the food wasn’t nice. It’s the only hut where you pay extra for another serving. The vegetarian dish only left out the meat and the desert was canned fruits with spray can cream—not the food you need when hiking all day. On top of that the host frequently asked us to order further drinks which made our evening in the hut more stressful than it should have been. Even cold showers cost 5€ which is why we decided to take a bath in the Isar spring a little further up the mountain. If you can, avoid staying in this hut and search for another option close by.

Cannot eat your own food here. You cannot drink your own water here. Have to stand at a specific spot in front of the cashier to pay. Keep asking us for drink orders non-stop even though we have said no thank you. Very unhappy that we didn’t order anything. We stay at the Refugio but we were never treated as guests. No cold shower unless you pay. This is one of the crappiest refugio ever.

Nice modern hütte, good food and atmosphere (though dinner serving time is quite strict), hot water(!), cozy rooms with comfortable bunk beds and plenty of space (the one we took was for 6 people in total). Amazing views on the valley, especially during sunsets.
