I wanted to try some local specialty food, something that defines the flavor of Vancouver. Granville Kebab & Poutine seemed to be a well-liked, popular choice. Now I know why!! The food was worth the trip to downtown Vancouver. I was greeted warmly as I entered the door. The gentleman behind d the counter was quick to take my order and offer suggestions. Superb service!! The beef poutine was Excellent!! The meat was tender and very flavorful. The cheese curds melted through and mixed with the brown gravy, coating the fries, creating a delightful mix of flavors!! The mixed kebab plate had a generous serving of beef and chicken on a fresh pita. Both meats were tender, juicy, and seasoned wonderfully. The mixed salad was crispy and served with a very tasty dressing. If you are in the Vancouver area and need some delicious food, this is a perfect choice!! We had guests from Switzerland who wanted to try Poutine. A google search showed a few options with this restaurant being in the location we were around. You would walk by this place and perhaps not give it a second glance as from the outside it looks unassuming and small. If you do walk by, you have missed out a fantastic experience. The lone staff member working (Shiva) greeted us with a warm smile and genuine enthusiasm. Although small, this restaurant was spotless and the seating was very comfortable. A decent selection of options were on the menu and we had full view of Shiva preparing our meals. Everything was freshly made, very tasty and more than adequate portions. Small wonder the restaurant is so clean as we watched Shiva diligently clean his work station and the grill. This young man truly exemplified the type of employee that the food service industry needs to make a lasting positive experience for customers.
We will be back and strongly recommend this restaurant. I have some Scottish blood so always expect value for money and this spot certainly delivered.
