I had the oxtail... It was tough and the flavor very average. Sorry Forntiers Restaurant, I make a better oxtail at home. My husband had the rump steak and it was okay. Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

I heard a good report about Frontiers Restaurant. My wife and I had previously eaten there in May 2022, their opening night, and been underwhelmed. In the interim, my understanding is that management had changed. So the Missus and I went on a scorching Friday for lunch. There was loadshedding, too, yet the interior was pleasantly cool. The decor is not what I would choose, but it has a chic and elegant feel that sets it apart from all the other eateries in Graaff-Reinet. The menu is not extensive. I chose the spaghetti carbonara, one of my favourite dishes. I myself make a pretty good carbonara myself. It was very different to my version, but it was both interesting and good. At R140.00, it seemed pricey to me, but I enjoyed it very much. I could easily order it again. My wife had the fish & chips, coming in at R100.00. She found the batter crispy and tasty and enjoyed the meal very much. We shared a creme brulée According to the menu, it was an Amarula version. The carmalised sugar was a little too thick for me. I found it a little bland and disappointing. The restaurant has a website, again setting it apart from the other restaurants. The said site, however, needs attention before I would find it useful. Service was good. They have a good wine list. I'll be back. An enjoyable experience. Vegetarian options: The manager claims to have excellent vegan options. I can't say, one way or the other.
