Severely disabled people: not welcome? Last week there were four of us, two of whom were severely disabled - one in a wheelchair, one with severe walking difficulties - who ate at Da Francesco. Of course, we asked in advance when we made our reservation whether this circumstance could be taken into account by getting us a suitable table (with a little more space than needed for non-disabled people). We were told that this wasn't a problem, but that there were two steps in front of the restaurant and one inside. To make sure that this could be done without any problems, I checked the steps on site before visiting the restaurant: no problem. However, upon our arrival, after getting inside, we were greeted by a grumpy host who was already clearly upset by moving a chair that was in the way in the entrance area. When we were looking for the right place at the table for the wheelchair user (which was as large as desired, but was right in the walkways of the entrance area and the kitchen), the unpleasant situation became significantly more intense: the innkeeper pointed out which place In his opinion, he was the right one and walked around us shaking his head and nagging alternately in German and Italian. In the following quarter of an hour he showed us very clearly that he was dissatisfied with our choice of how to sit at the table (depending on how the wheelchair user can sit appropriately at the table) and that he was also in a bad mood that we had apparently caused Not taking control of our order. In the following minutes, he continued to share this loudly with his colleagues in the kitchen area - where we were directly within hearing and sight. A very bad start to the evening. Then followed what everyone else reviewing here wrote: attentive service, very good food. All in all, after visiting this restaurant, you're left with a more than bland aftertaste and the certainty that you won't be returning to Da Franceso again. Obviously people with disabilities are not welcome. Every person with a disability is painfully aware of the fact that a disability always means additional effort in the smallest everyday matters, even if it is just choosing a seat in a restaurant. The fact that you are treated extremely harshly and that clear signals are sent that you are a disruptive factor is unfortunately no exception, but it is still both painful and outrageous.
