On 6 December I took my parents for breakfast at Fournos the Grove. The bill was R420. When I paid by credit card, the waiter told me the transaction did not go through, he would get another machine. When he returned with the other card machine, I showed him on my phone that the payment had already gone through my bank. He assured me that the payment would be reversed within 24 hours, so I proceeded to pay again, using the same card.
Two weeks later, the payment had not been reversed, and both payments were processed through my bank. I called Fournos the Grove, and I was told to come to the restaurant to explain the problem. I visited the shop and spoke to Ulf, the manager. Ulf indicated that he could not refund the double payment in cash, nor could he credit my credit card. He told me that I should make a copy of the pay slip (which I fortunately saved) and send him an email together with a copy of my bank statement, and he would sort it out ... I was quite irritated, but I sent him the email anyway.
A week passed and I did not receive a response. I resent the email asking for a response. Still nothing ... I then called Ulf! He confirmed that he did receive the email, but in stead of responding, he forwarded it to his head office for a response. Ulf indicated that he would again follow it up ...
It is now 30 December and I have not received a response from anybody!
Really Fournos the Grove, Ulf, anybody ... how difficult can it be?!?
If I have to go back there in January 2021, I’m going to make a scene! ... and it is not going to be pleasant!!!
