Very good brioches even if you can't see the sugar on top; they have lactose-free milk (which is not to be taken for granted) and the filling is excellent and spread throughout the brioches. The service is kind and friendly, the place is clean and well-kept. Let's say it could lower the price a little but otherwise it's fine. After traveling all morning to Ferrara for our vacation, we arrived in the city in the early afternoon. Being hungry and having studied before, our first stop was Caffè Europa to taste the famous Ferrarese macaroni pie. In this place it is made both in the savory version and in the traditional version, i.e. with sweet shortcrust pastry. Not having a predilection for sweet/savoury at the same time, we asked the very kind lady who served us. He reassured us that it was not excessively sweet and so we tried both versions. At Caffé Europa it is possible to taste single portions of pasticcio which are already quite satiating in themselves thanks also to the richness of the seasoning contained in the treasure chest of pasta. What can I say... it's delicious. As the lady had anticipated, the level of sweetness is not excessive and goes well with the salty part, this also thanks to the béchamel which tends to be a little sweetish thanks to the presence of butter and milk. But, even if I go against the tradition of the Ferrara pasticcio, the savory version is the bomb, very good. In my opinion, the most difficult challenge in this type of preparation is managing to keep the macaroni inside the pasta casket at least al dente due to the double cooking they must have. The Caffé Europa pasticcio is delicious, the béchamel that envelops the macaroni together with the white meat sauce and parmesan make it a masterpiece, and also a calorie bomb, but holidays are holidays in every sense. Caffé Europa is also an excellent pastry shop and has become our breakfast base during our stay in Ferrara. Other things not to be missed are the tenerina cake made with dark chocolate, the tagliolina cake originally made with the leftovers of fresh pasta enriched with almonds and a sort of donut called ricciola made with puff pastry and bread dough. The staff at the venue are very kind. The prices are a little high but justified by the quality of the raw materials and the location of the restaurant in the center Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: €1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Croissant Parking space: Difficult to find parking Parking options: Paid parking lot
