Un locale discreto e non molto grande ma pulito gestito da un ragazzo simpaticissimo e disponibile...prodotti freschi...peccato per le patate surgelate...il panino da rivedere soprattutto per la qualità del pane...

In a crew of eleven -- 8 Americans, 3 Italians -- we checked out the grand opening of Enzo's Burger in Villaricca last night. (Disregard the map on their Facebook page. They're right on the four-laner/SP1/old Circumvallazione at 40.9173, 14.1951) Despite the predictable opening night hiccups (capacity crowd, firing up a new kitchen, breakers tripping, etc.), the staff scrambled non-stop, overcame the obstacles, and made it work... and kept smiles on their faces while they did it. Enzo was a very gracious host and made the time to greet and welcome every table in between helping out as barman, cashier, waiter, cook, etc. During the initial delays, they plied us with a free mini-buffet of snacks and appetizers -- mini-rolls stuffed with eggplant parmesan or roast pork, fries, wings, nuggets, etc... When the main attraction finally started rolling out, there were lots of ooohs and aaahs. Big, generous sandwiches on soft crusty rolls. The sandwich choices include hamburgers, thick sliced porchetta, meatball, and chicken cutlet, and in addition to the standards like lettuce, tomato, bacon, and cheese, their various specials include such toppings as provola, mozzarella, red or white eggplant parmesan, friarielli, chopped almonds, pistacchio cream, mushrooms, fried egg, shaved parmesan... no way I can remember them all. Sandwich prices range from €7.00-8.50. For 8.50, you're getting a big double burger that's more than plenty for a guy my size. Sides are €2.00-5.00. (I would be remiss if I failed to mention the sausage and cheese gravy fries!) They also have a decent selection of beers from €2.00-6.00. All eleven of us left fat and happy, and not counting the beer (we were there for a couple of hours - there were quite a few), the tab came to €105. The event advertisement initially caught my attention because of the "American Burger" theme. "Gusto America, Made in Italy", it says. Their sandwiches are even named for American cities: Chicago, Detroit, New York, San Diego... I had my fingers crossed that we were going to stumble into the first Italian equivalent of Five Guys, or Fuddruckers, or Johnny Rockets. Sadly, that is not the case. These are not American burgers. As an Italian burger joint, however, I have to give Enzo's top marks. Great food, generous portions, very reasonable prices, and an enjoyable atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!
