If I could give a negative star rating I absolutely would and here is my reason: Yesterday evening, I was with friends at LVLUP Games Café - right next door to Ellen's Place. Right around closing time, the owner of Ellen's Place, Ellen herself, comes barging inside the café and starts yelling at all the customers from the entrance because someone's car was blocking the way out for her to leave (from the take out side at the side of the building). We had never seen this woman before in our lives, and the way she screamed at a room full of customers was shocking. When staff ask Ellen which car she's talking about, she just ignores them and leaves. Soon after, Ellen's husband enters the café and begins yelling at all of us about someone's car again, uttering threats, and pointing fingers, which started a screaming match with one of the patrons. A female staff member then tried to get Ellen's aggressive husband to leave the café because he was upsetting us. They got to the foyer when he accosted her, causing her to scream, "PLEASE DO NOT GET VIOLENT WITH ME!" This prompted some of the café patrons to run after the staff member to assist her. I don't know what happened or what was said outside the store but I could hear screaming and swearing from Ellen and her husband. Luckily, Police did not get involved and the situation was eventually de-escalated by the owner of LVLUP Games. However, a few patrons who ran out to help came back inside, I heard one of them saying that Ellen's husband actually threatened using a weapon on one of them, and we could hear Ellen calling him, "a b*tch". What's worse was learning that the car in question was parked in a valid, and legal parking spot and the reason Ellen couldn't drive out was due to the built up snowbank behind the car (a landlord issue). Regardless, Ellen and her husband could have come inside the store, FOUND THE STAFF and RESPECTFULLY asked them to have the car moved. Instead, they chose to be belligerent, aggressive and even violent with staff and US PATRONS of the café. The owner's behaviors were just downright ABUSIVE, THREATENING and ABHORRENT. Imagine sitting with your friends, having a great time, and then this happens. It was an awful way to ruin an otherwise great experience for us. Like I said - if I could give their establishment a negative rating, because of the people who own it, I would. I do not believe that I will EVER support Ellen's Place after what we witnessed and I ask anyone who is reading this to do the same. I'm sure there are other authentic Filipino restaurants that are just as good in Mississauga, if not better than Ellen's restaurants - whose owners act with the expected decorum of professional business owners, might I add.
