It is Saturday, July 13. I just left Ducks On The Roof in Cochrane Alberta. I’m extremely unhappy with the disrespect that I received from the bartender. When I got there they didn’t have the beer I wanted so I ordered Guinness. The Guinness came in a Guinness glass, but it was extremely under-poured. (Guinness has the little harp on the glass, and my understanding is it is supposed to be filled to the top of the harp.) The head was quite a bit larger than that, almost going all the way down to the bottom of the harp. I sent it back. It was refilled, and it came back to me filled to the proper level. After that, I ordered a second Guinness and this time it did not come in a Guinness glass, but in a strangely shaped glass with another name etched into the side (Strongbow I think). The head on this was (again) extremely large - it was another under-pour. I sucked it up and later ordered a third, but it also came in a non-Guinness glass with a huge head. At that point, it was obvious to me that the bartender was telling me FU - they were going to under pour, and I should just live with it. It was extremely disrespectful and I do not appreciate it at all. I was not interested in any kind of confrontation with the bartender so I paid my bill, and left. I have been a regular customer of Ducks for more than 10 years. With the exception of this bartender, the staff have always been very friendly and respectful toward, me. Unfortunately it was not the first instance of this kind of behaviour from that bartender. At this point in time, they have probably lost me as a future customer, which is a shame, because I really liked Duck’s.
