Dill, c’est une vraie expérience, puissante et cohérente du début à la fin. En effet, on est immergés dans le concept avec quelques dégustations dès l’entrée dans le restaurant. On poursuit l’apéro dans le coin salon à l’étage, intimiste et cosy. Et on continue le repas dans la grande salle animée ou au bar, avec vue plongeante sur la cuisine. La mise à l’honneur des produits locaux est totalement réussie. Les combinaisons de textures et de saveurs sont pertinentes, les goûts marqués, les jus et sauces à déguster jusqu’à la dernière goutte, les cuissons maîtrisées. Les plats s’enchaînent tout au long d’un menu unique dans une valse parfaitement réglée grâce à une équipe compétente, sympathique et qui prend manifestement plaisir à être là. II y a possibilité de choisir des accords mets-boissons (alcoolisées, non alcoolisées ou mixtes) avec de belles découvertes. Le cadre tamisé, la vaisselle, les couverts complètent donc cette expérience qui fut réussie au fil de la soirée pour nous! So, you probably wonder why I rate a 1 one star Michelin restaurant this bad? We planned our trip to Iceland 'around' dinner at Dill Restaurant. We had dinner there at 2. March and reserved a table at 6.30pm. 18 courses and wine, al looking very good at the menu card. The courses followed up pretty fast. The food was delicious, but we asked the waiter if the kitchen could slow down. We simply needed time to enjoy and digest the food and wine. He came back and said that that was not possible. The table was booked again at 9pm. What???? We book a table in a Michelin star restaurant and they work with time slots? And that message than defines the rest of your dinner experience that night. We never ever dined at a Michelin star restaurant that worked with time slots. Of course not, because it's not appropriate in the whole concept of Michelin. You get a star for the complete dinner experience. Now, believe it or not, in one of the forth coming courses, the waiter wanted to take away the plate of my dinner companion. He quickly realized she was not finished yet and apologized, but it showed how much pressure there was from the kitchen to make sure all 18 courses were served before 8:45pm. We were finished at 9 pm and paid 69,000 Icelandic crowns. Of course we gave our feedback. No real apologies. They said, they simply needed the double booking in order to make profit. And it also was pointed out at the website. We probably missed that one, since it's about the last thing you would expect from a Michelin star restaurant. You want to eat at Dill's? Go ahead, the food is great. You want to have a relaxed dinner experience for several hours, some chat time in between, sipping your wine, having good conversation with your dinner companions. Skip it. The concept might fit very well in the US eat culture (we have some experience there as well) but it's totally not in line with European 'easy going' eat culture . Final thoughts: the restaurant simply does not deserve the Michelin star, since this is a total concept experience, and not only measured by the quality of the food. And therefore price/quality is way out of balance. Food: 5 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: kr 20,000+
