Cute Hong Kong style cafe! This place always feels like it's crowded, but if you get there just before the rush, it's quite quiet. Service is quick and no-frills. We got the smoked salmon and chicken in pasta, and the onion sauce and black pepper chicken with rice. Both meals came with cream soup, bread, and your choice of a hot drink. The soup tasted like flour mostly, quite tasteless. It could use some salt, really. It's very much just a filler soup. I don't weigh this too heavily in my rating because this isn't the main dish, but it's pretty bad. The garlic bread, on the other hand, was tasty and soft. It's not super hard and over toasted, but would have preferred a slight toast. The smoked salmon and chicken pasta was good. The portion was very large and lots of cream sauce to go with it. It's deceivingly stingy on the smoked salmon, but it's a strong flavour, so I don't mind not having that much. It wasn't a particularly outstanding dish but it's good for the price. The onion sauce and black pepper chicken was very tasty. Very strong peppery flavour that goes well with the rice. It's a classic that you can't go wrong with! Lastly, they bring you the tea and coffee after your meal--like a sit-and-sip finisher. The HK milk tea is wonderful and strong, as you expect! Overall, I think the value is pretty good here. The portions are all quite generous--any one of these dishes are enough for 2 moderate meals for me. The ambience is quite nice too! If it wasn't for the pandemic, we probably would have stuck around longer to chill. Worth a visit if you're in the area!

I visit Dicken's once every few months and I am a fan of this restaurant. They consistently give serve me big portions of good to excellent quality food and the menu offers a large selection of items at relatively inexpensive prices. In my most recent visit, I ordered a Chicken salad for lunch. They served me a salad on a big plate with a big helping of chicken, some cashews, lettuce, tomato, cucumber and raisins. The salad was light and refreshing to eat and the seasoning on the salad was just right. Because of the large portion, I felt pretty full after lunch even though I was eating salad. This place has some specials (I have a friend who has VIP membership and gets 10% off the bill every time they eat here), and they give you a complimentary drink if you order from the afternoon tea menu between 2:30-5pm. The restaurant is a little bit dark inside and usually very busy. The service staff prefers taking orders in Cantonese, though they also speak English and some mandarin. I have consistently had excellent food at Dickens Café. 4.0 / 5.0
