Today at about 5:45PM I went in with 2 other friends to order some pizza. There was maybe 2 or 3 previously seated tables. Everything was as normal. Ordered food by about 6PM. About 5 minutes later the place started to fill up and as time went on table who arrived after got their orders before us. Similar sized orders and a couple larger tables. At about 6:35 our server rushes to the table and claims there was a glitch on the system that slowed our orders down and that we would get a reduced bill. We had a place to be for 7:30. Immediately after she told us of the error we could see her run to the bartender (not the kitchen and panic slightly), and then we notice our specific orders started to be made at about 6:40. We let our server know that we needed to leave to be somewhere and the orders became rushed and substandard food. She didn't even use the words "sorry" or "apologize" when describing the mistake in a ways to not take responsibility. At the end the bill was only reduced by 15%, we had to rush to our event, and we didn't get to eat more than 1 slice of each pizza meaning we will have expensive leftovers. I, initially, heard about Community Taps + Pizza on instagram. I think it came across my feed on someone's "eat here" or "yegeats" insta. I am always down for trying new places and food so it seemed like a great chill place to try on a Friday night after a workout with some friends. I had made a reservation a couple of days earlier online - super simple and convenient. The fact I could make a reso was already a bonus - I mean no one likes showing up on a Friday night and having to wait forever to eat right? So a reso was a bonus and a basically a guarantee that we would be able to give it a try. The second bonus was that there is a decently large vegetarian selection. My partner is a vegetarian and going out sometimes can be a bit of a disappointment, especially when there is somewhere I really try but there is nothing there for him to eat. So ability to make a reso and a decent vegetarian option - we're off to a good start. Community Taps and Pizza had a good selection of appetizers - my favorite that night was the onion rings (big, crispy and drizzled with a bit of sweetness). We ordered 3 pizzas, all New York Style as they were out of Detroit pizzas (kind of a bummer), and they were all awesome. We got the Hawaiian extreme, Truffle mushroom and pepperoni and Prawn and Arugula. My partner got the vegetarian meatball sub. I would say, comparatively, the prices of the pizzas were on par with anywhere else you might go but more awesome. I would absolutely make this my go to pizza place for the future. The only downside I think was that the entry door stayed open for a good chunk of the night and we were freezing since we were seated near the stairwell. They did eventually close it and we were all good after that! Oh and I forgot to mention the drinks. There was a good selection of adult drinks which paired nicely with all the pizza.
