I had a wonderful experience thanks to Eric’s help during my membership process at The Alta Toronto. He was incredibly supportive, patient, and knowledgeable. Eric went above and beyond to answer all my questions and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. I’m truly grateful for his professionalism and kindness. Highly recommend connecting with him if you’re considering joining. Thank you, Eric!

Altea might present itself like a luxury fitness facility, but it’s managed and maintained worse than a condo gym. Behind the sleek branding is a reactive, dismissive management team that doesn’t just ignore feedback- they actively push paying members out if they raise concerns. Not only are they completely resistant to feedback and complaints, they’re volatile- suggesting that members leave if they’re unsatisfied. Communication is next to none. In just the past week, both the pool and sauna were shut down without warning. No emails. No notifications. Just a piece of paper propped up in the pool area after you've already wasted your time coming in. A templated email would have taken 2 minutes and easily could have been sent by the front desk staff that are constantly under utilized. Instead, members are left piecing together updates through Facebook groups run by other members (such as the sauna now being down for several weeks - Altea management still hasn’t bothered to communicate that). Cleanliness is a whole other issue. For a facility charging luxury rates, basic hygiene is appalling. The locker rooms reek. Showers are moldy, clogged with hair, and clearly neglected. Seeing how clean and well maintained the locker rooms at Sweat & Tonic are only highlights just how little care or pride Altea’s management takes in maintaining their own facility. The contrast is embarrassing. There should be plenty of room in the budget for deep cleaning to be done- even after operating hours to not interfere with guests working out (it’s clear that custodial staff are not well managed or given good directive). There is no other gym run so poorly in the city, and if they didn’t have the monopoly on the area, their memberships would significantly decline.

Absolutely unacceptable experience with Altea. I was a loyal member since they opened (>4years), but the moment I said I needed to cancel due to health issues, everything changed. The friendly attitude disappeared, and I was treated like I no longer mattered. I had planned to come back once things were resolved, but after how I was treated — never again. When I came in to settle things, the manager didn’t even have the decency to speak to me directly. They stayed hidden in the office and made the front desk staff go back and forth like messengers 5 times. Completely unprofessional and disrespectful, especially considering how long I had been a member. When I questioned the way I was treated, I was told smth like “We have too many members — we can’t look out for everyone.” That says it all. To top it off, they charged me a late fee even though I intentionally took the last few days off at the end of the month to avoid further charges. In the end, I paid for 1.5 months of membership I didn’t use, plus a ridiculous fee. Avoid this place. They only care about your money, not you. Plenty of better gyms out there that treat people with basic respect. Even though I liked the building/gym/equipment.

While we value all our member and guest feedback Maria, the above recollection of events does not match our correspondence(s) over time. Upon inquiry of cancellation due to no longer using the facility in February of this year, we supported the steps necessary to fulfill the cancellation process. The 30-day notice requirement is as outlined in the agreement and consistent from one member to another. All the best in your future wellness journey and thank you for being with us since 2022!
