The location of Cafe Myrtledene is off the beaten track and in the summer the outside space would come into its own. On a chilly spring evening, the inside was rather drafty. It was also surprisingly busy for a Thursday evening, possibly because it was a half-price pizza night. Service was a little perfunctory and slow. The menu was rather meat-orientated with just one vegetarian main option. Starters of spanakopita and arancini balls were freshly prepared, tasty and piping hot. A big blue burger included a generous amount of meat and the chips were excellent. A Thai green prawn curry was much less successful, with tiny overcooked prawns and an overly-rich, glutinous sauce that tasted mainly of coconut.
