Café Blumen could easily be the geographical protagonist of the experience in Mainz: its proximity to the river and the city center establish it as the most optimal place to have a drink on the go. Without going any further, out of total ignorance, it was the first place where I had a coffee in 2022, the day I arrived in Germany for the first time. It simply invites you. It is also the meeting center by default, since it has the perfect balance: it always has an extra chair hanging around so that all your friends can sit, despite it being twice as large as they planned. It presents the natural culinary transition between a coffee and a drink, being the perfect portal between leaving work and leaving work. It is a place that, without going any further, does its job.
