As a frequent customer of the Bubble Tea Place, I was disappointed and concerned when I visited this last week. I had read online that you were open for take-out and I was assuming there would be a small area or window set up where there would be minimal interaction between patrons and staff.
When we arrived, there were few efforts to reduce virus transfer. I noticed the chairs removed, the bathroom was blocked and there were masks for sale, but not being worn. There were no markings on the floor to ensure social distancing, and the patrons and staff were only separated by a small counter. We paid with cash and we're given back cash. I then watched the staff make our drinks and handle the cups and straws without washing their hands in between. Handling cash and then making food is unsanitary, especially in these times of high risk viral transfer.
We also witnessed a customer return and pass back their drink when they had gotten the wrong order. The staff took the drink from the customer and then proceeded to make a new drink without washing their hands. This demonstrated high risk methods of transfer. Finally handling the straw after touching many surfaces, a previous customers order and cash, is putting viruses and bacteria at high like of transfer without sanitizing in between. I thankfully had hand sanitizer and wipes available to clean the drink before I consumed it. Otherwise I would have not felt safe consuming it and potentially contracting bacteria or viruses. I know these may seem extreme, but I believe it is essential to do everything possible, especially when interacting with the public and food during a global pandemic.
We later walked to another establishment in the same area and witnessed very sanitary, well-planned social distancing and cleaning techniques. There were plexiglass between food products and patrons, the staff were wearing gloves, masks and were not handling cash. They had a jar for money, and would not give back change, greatly reducing bactieral and viral transfer.
I was quite shocked at the handling of cash in your establishment. I will not be returning to the Bubble Tea Place if this is the sanitation that is practiced. I really appreciate your business and want to support local, but do not feel safe consuming your products under these circumstances if policies do not change.

I LOVE IT!
I have tried Bubble Tea elsewhere & it doesnt come anywhere close to the amazing quality, flavor, service & atmosphere that The Bubble Tea Place has.
it is my #1 Favorote spot in Victoria & I always make a point to go there multiple times when I am in Victoria.
