Texas BBQ in Alberta! This place did not disappoint. Arrived on a Sunday afternoon with an entire starving hockey team and their families post tournament. Big Sky BBQ Pit absorbed our group into its large picnic tables without a hitch. Ordering was quick and easy with one small glitch that was rectified quickly, I personally liked the curated part platters and settled on the Piggy Chick with a side of coleslaw for our family of 4. Wow. Was it ever a lot of food it says serves 3-5, but definitely could serve 6-7 people! The smoked chicken was EPIC, the best I’ve ever had. Ribs were delicious, melt in your mouth kind of thing. The dipping sauce selection was extensive, we tried the BBQ and hot both were a punch of flavour in your mouth! Baked beans and coleslaw were a hit amongst our entire team and the cornbread that was my favourite! Leftovers are wrapped in butcher paper for a fun takeaway experience. Can’t wait for lunch tomorrow although this might actually turn into a midnight snack situation! Highly recommend this gem to anyone who wants a Texas BBQ experience in Southern Alberta. The vibe was cool and felt authentic despite one reviewer saying otherwise. I would definitely take a road trip to this place of the food should we not find ourselves in Okotoks again for hockey! Service was unorganized, server seemed overwhelmed, they provide you with a beeper but the server doesn’t escort the party in and when you go collect your order and you question your order because it is wrong other food orders are being placed and they don’t have time to fix it and basically customer is waiting and wrong. And then when the bill comes it to is wrong items appear on the bill which you have not ordered. I am sorry but for all the hype about this place and the food, most items we’re not available, portions were small, for example the bread was hiding the meat, if you call it meat because it was pure fat. I was not impressed
