I would give more stars if I could During our 3-day stay in Bologna, the Bella Riva Caffè was a definite highlight! Both the Pinsa as well as the filled Brioche (highly recommend the one with pistacchio filling!) were a delight. The owner is a very nice man we‘ve enjoyed chatting with. I highly recommend a visit and a coffee here! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

5 Stars - and for good reason. We stopped for breakfast at Bella Riva because we were immediately caught by its flair and charming atmosphere. The pinsa, brioche/cornetto and coffee we had were not only delicious, but also incredibly affordable. And the staff was extremely friendly and inviting. They gave us some background about the flours they use to make their pinsa extra light - I believe it was 7 different types - and even offered some recommendations for a trattoria to visit for dinner that day. All in all it seems like Bella Riva caffé is a place run by people who love what they are doing and know that they are doing it exceptionally well. We were so content the first time that on the day of leaving Bologna, we made a point to specifically head there a second time in a 3 day visit, despite the 30 minute walk from our hotel. Price per person: €1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian options: Pinsa with hummus, tomatoes and melanzane one day, melanzane, cheese and arugula another time. Several croissants (cornetti) with apricot jam, patisserie cream, pistachio cream or ricotta cream.

We love this place. In Bologna for a few days, loving this city so much already. We are self catering, but this lovely little café bar is right across the street. We have made this cafê our second home for aperitifs, trying different wine and snacks made up on the spot by the very friendly and helpful padrone and his staff. They work very hard to engage with and get to know their customers. Come here for a coffee and a drink to watch the world go by.
