Ordered a beef and chicken combo platter and ate in store. Watched the employee heat up old rice in the microwave for 3 min to add to our platter. I have never been served old, microwaved rice with an entree from any shawarma spot in life. The salad was limp and wilted and cucumbers wrinkled. What a disappointment compared to all the quality shawarma I've enjoyed over the years. Not returning. I’ve been eating donair and shawarma for years. I have literally never seen ANY shop microwave their rice before serving. Thank god I was eating in house to see the lack of standards here. Beef and chicken both tasted and looked old, turnips were old, salad was wilted, cucumbers wrinkled and floppy. It was obvious they have their meat sitting off the spit, they steam it altogether with an either a frozen or stale pita overtop, under a metal bowl while they microwaved the rice and prepped a browned lettuce salad. Once the meat is steamed, along with the pita, it was placed on top of the microwaved rice and served. When I first moved back to Sherwood Park, this place was great - not sure what’s happened since then, but I’ll never be back. Here’s hoping my stomach survives the night. I recently visited Basha Donair & Shawarma and it was a 5-star experience through and through! The food was amazing. But what really made my visit special was the service. The staff was so welcoming and friendly, making me feel right at home. They knew the menu inside out and their recommendations were perfect. Can’t wait to go back!
