We waited over an hour for our food, when there where only 3 other tables… They all arrived after us and got their food earlier. After 40 minutes they told us, it will take 2-3 more minutes but it took 20 more. The Caprese Salad didn’t come earlier and the Mozarella was chewy. The Wiener Schnitzel wasn’t the meat I ordered and the fries were cold. When I asked them to remake the fries they made new ones which were not done The other meat we ordered was raw and the butter on top came frozen. Restaurant Ballans is located on the seafront just a few meters from Piata Cazino square in the center of Mamaia. The restaurant has a large outdoor terrace with pleasant seating areas and lighting. Several of the seating groups have hammock swings, which makes the restaurant stand out in a positive way. We received no greeting or eye contact with the staff upon arrival and it took some time before the menu was presented on the table. None of the dishes were highlighted and the employee did not ask if we wanted anything to drink. There was also a lack of smiles and service comments from the employee. We chose to order spaghetti carbonara and pizza pepperoni respectively. The carbonara was served after approx. 25 minutes and the pizza after approx. 35 minutes, which was perceived as long in relation to the type of place. The food should also have been served at the same time. The portion of Carbonara appeared small and the presentation appeared boring. There was no bread or extra Parmesan, which is common in similar places. The carbonara didn't taste particularly good either and was a dining experience that is quickly forgotten. The pizza had a nice presentation, seemed homemade and tasted as expected without being particularly outstanding. None of the staff asked if the food tasted good or offered more to drink when the glasses were empty. It also took a long time to get attention when we wanted to pay. The staff appeared unengaged and we received no greeting when we left the place. Neither the food nor the service was particularly outstanding and, compared to the price level, we did not feel that we were getting value for money. We will therefore not visit the place again and will not recommend it to others. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4
