I rarely leave reviews unless I feel really strongly. I always like to support small businesses and I have no problem spending money on quality products. That said, I've had these cookies about 6 or 7 times now since they opened in the Farmer's Market West. My first experience was the best in terms of taste, and I think that's likely just because the cookie was so gooey and warm, but after that the taste has gone significantly downhill for me. I typically only buy them if my preferred cookie in the market is sold out, which they were today. The Chunk'd cookies are dry and flavourless for a gourmet cookie - I really think their saving grace is that they are warm and melty. But - these cookies cost SEVEN dollars a piece. I believe this is a recent price hike, because the last few times I was paying in the $6 range (but still being asked for a tip). I don't know if they weren't receiving any tips and decided to build a tip into the cost because today I paid $7.35 - I was flabbergasted when told the price but I stupidly paid and took my cookie. It was dry and flavourless as usual. I would have zero qualms paying $7 for a cookie, if it tasted like a Levain cookie (which for the record cost about $5.25 USD, so around the price of this cookie). I'd recommend this business revise their recipe to compete with some of the better gourmet cookies out there if they want to keep charging 7 bucks a piece. I'd recommend this business check out Craig's Cookies (Toronto) for comparison, they have some of the best cookies for around 4 bucks a piece.
