Where do I begin? Now the An Nam is in the old town. 2 minutes from the market church. That was the first good thing from my side. As soon as you walk into the restaurant you no longer feel comfortable. It is very dark and it takes your eyes a moment to get used to it, the wood look with not really positive decorative materials. There are large Vietnamese pictures hanging on the wall, but due to the initial wrong feeling, they couldn't have any positive effects on me. There is also a display case on the wall with specialties that I can't identify at all. But these give the feeling of pickled things, like in a pharmacy. It looked like white roses combined with ginseng. There was also an old grandfather clock that rang regularly. Phew, the ambience is an overload of dark emotions. If I were on a date and wanted to end it quickly, this would be my first stop. OK, but we're here because of the food and at 1508 we found out that there was no longer any lunch. But that didn't matter to us anyway. My son ordered pasta and found it really tasty (the second plus point). However, for me it was disappointing. I ordered tofu with vegetables. It said it was very spicy. I love spicy food, but spiciness alone is not enough. The tofu was OK, but nothing special. The vegetables were crunchy and better than expected. The sauce was just colored water flavored with chili. The rice was anything but good. I think it's already had its time in the travel cooker. Some of it is very slightly mushy and some of it has this particular hardness. This happens when the last trip slowly binds itself to the pot. I've experienced better than that. But I would give 3 stars for the food. In a nicer location it might even have been enough for more. Only when I want to get away from the feeling does the food not taste good. The prices are not really high, but they are too high for what you get. Purezza water is sold in the restaurant. So table water is just water from the tap. But Purezza is water from your own tap. For a 0.75L bottle of still water, it is astronomically expensive. But the best comes last, my son had a glass of ginger ale. So many pearls rose from the ground that it looked like an underwater volcano. I once read that this is caused by glasses that are not too clean (if I'm wrong, I'd be happy to be corrected). This used to be a regular occurrence on the glass walls of carbonated drinks. Now you can hardly see it anymore, as hygiene has improved thanks to dishwashers. I didn't use the toilet even though I needed one and wanted to leave the restaurant very quickly. My conclusion: A big disappointment for me. I don't even know what positive things I could write. I think remodeling the restaurant makes a lot of sense. Information about my recessions. All the information I write down here is a snapshot and completely subjective. When I visit a place a second time, my assessment may be completely different. If I find something that needs improvement and it has actually been implemented, I will of course also change my review.
