We had an appointment to meet friends in Munich and the surrounding area over the weekend and also wanted to visit the Wallbergbahn. The weather was very sunny and wonderful on this day in February, but we didn't have the right shoes for the over 50cm of snow on the top, as guests who arrived told us. I also felt that 27 euros per person was too expensive, which is why we decided to visit the Alpine Wildlife Park. In hindsight I have to say, fortunately! You can see the rustic wooden hut from the parking lot, with coniferous forests in the background and the Wallbergbahn next door. Visually, you can't get a nicer look when the sun is shining from the sky (as it was during our visit) and there is still light snow on the mountains in the background. You go up the steps and find a spacious terrace that doesn't have too many seats. We got a spot right against the wall of the hut, where the sun was naturally well reflected and it was also comfortable to sit. The waitress was very personable with her calm, relaxed Bavarian manner and humor and fits exactly into this hut! I can't understand anyone who describes this as "not friendly" like other reviews. We first ordered a round of drinks, coffee and beer mixed in the group. A look at the menu gave some people a slight feeling of hunger and they ordered schnitzel with roasted potatoes, beef broth with liver dumplings and (typically Bavarian) liver cheese with homemade potato salad. Everything arrived relatively quickly and looked really great. The roasted potatoes could have used a little longer in the pan and a little salt, but this is always a matter of taste and not a criticism. Each of us was very satisfied with the food and so we ordered something sweet afterwards. The dessert was also very lovingly and beautifully prepared. We spent several hours here, contrary to what we had initially planned, and the time flew by. Normally you have to pay for parking because cameras record and save you when you drive in. I don't think much of license plate recognition, but that has nothing to do with the Alpine Wildlife Park. Here the landlady unlocks the license plate of the car after paying the bill, so that as a customer you can park your car for free. For me there is only one clear recommendation to stop here if you are in the area. Everything was very nice from start to finish, reasonable prices, good food, clean toilets and, when the weather was good, a great view on the terrace. Parking: It depends on what time of day you come. By midday the parking lot is already very full and you have to look for something. If you use the Wallbergbahn or go to the Alpenwildpark, parking is free. Otherwise you have to pay. Wheelchair accessibility: Since you have to go up steps, this becomes difficult. I didn't see any ramp or anything like that, you should ask in advance.
