We were amazed and surprised to find such a great restaurant in a small village such as Crespi d'Adda. We made a spontaneous trip out here and we were so glad we did. Everything we ordered was delicious and impeccable. The desserts were also amazing, especially the pear and ricotta tart for me. The service staff spoke limited English but nevertheless still tried their very best and we got by with our broken and even more limited Italian. They also shared with us the history of the place: the name translates to After Work, which was the hangout place for the cotton mill workers after work. Do make plans to have your meal here when visiting Crespi! Modernizing a place inside a historic building, even inside a UNESCO site, while respecting its uniqueness, is not an easy thing. But "Al Dopolavoro" succeeded. Inside you can breathe the past, but remaining grounded in 2024. This is also thanks to a young and very friendly staff. Even the dishes tell the story of traditional cuisine, while adapting it to contemporary tastes and aesthetics. The casoncelli are certainly an example of this, very well presented but with the inevitable base of bacon and melted butter, which makes for a great Sunday lunch (a taste in the photo). The flakes of parmesan above, however, would have been preferable to be thinner and in a more seasoned shape. The homemade tarts are also very delicious: definitely an excellent pastry. Note of merit, perhaps trivial for some, but absolutely not obvious, goes to the coffee, with its notable creaminess. Prices perfectly suited to the offer. Parking: In front of the entrance to the restaurant there is a fairly large public car park, but, as Crespi is a tourist destination, it is not difficult to find it completely occupied.
