We were there on September 25th. in the Störtebecker with two children (1 and 3) and left with mixed feelings at the end... The food was OK. I was a little disappointed with the steak, as it was done medium well, but had little crust/roasted flavor - we've had that better served elsewhere. The fish platter for two people was also completely fine. We were also treated very friendly and courteously by the female waitress. What really annoyed us - and especially me - was the behavior of the "boss". When our younger granddaughter became louder because she felt uncomfortable, our daughter took her out of the chair because she couldn't be calmed down and took her outside. When she was already at the door, the “boss” came around the corner and said “he was just about to suggest going out with the child.” Completely out of place - since he saw that the child was already on the way out, you should swallow a comment like that and be OK. But we now know that children are not valued at Störtebecker. Hopefully this isn't too short-sighted for the future - after all, these are the guests of the next generation. [EDIT after the owner's answer] The CONCLUSION clearly shows the attitude: We ate in the restaurant 7 times a week and only you had problems, which suggests that it was a singularity (= exception) and our daughter is like that already described went out with the child. So 6 times good and not: We successfully practice restaurant with the children! And I think it's inappropriate to say that we have no interest in the children! We won't stay at home - we will use other locations! Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3

Dear Mr. Reininghaus, Thank you for your review. I am pleased that I now have the opportunity to describe this evening to you …Dear Mr. Reininghaus, Thank you for your review. I am pleased that I now have the opportunity to describe this evening to you from our perspective. First and most importantly: we like children! Because we were all little ourselves once. As soon as you entered, you were warmly welcomed and looked after. To ensure that even the little ones at your table are kept busy right from the start, we stocked up with self-made children's cards and painting sets. I also put a lot of effort into preparing your dishes. We also understand that it can get a little louder here and there in the restaurant. For example, loud guests, barking dogs or screaming children. That’s part of it too! But if you are unable to calm your child or grandchild in the restaurant for a long period of time, we recommend taking your screaming child outside to calm him down. Because, as you may have noticed, there were other guests besides you in our restaurant who actually wanted to spend a relaxed and quiet evening. After we were made aware of you by several guests, especially from your next table 2 meters away, I decided to come out of the kitchen to kindly recommend exactly that to you. Only when I got to the table did I see that the young lady had already made her way. CONCLUSION: Eating out with children should be practiced at home beforehand! Parents should be able to assess how and when they can best calm their children. However, if you are not interested in spending time with your own children, we suggest that you stay at home and eat there instead. Kind regards Christian Kortmann Managing Director & Head Chef Restaurant Zum StörtebekerMore
