For a late afternoon dinner today, I went to UMIYA Sushi. I ordered a couple milk drinks and three special rolls. One was banana-flavoured and the other, taro-flavoured. They came in little juice boxes. Both were great. Moving on, a chicken teriyaki, Flying Ruby, and Fire Lips were the rolls. I believe the last two are exclusive to and were created by Umiya. But be warned: the Fire Lips is SPICY. The spice is from jalapeno peppers, sriracha, and hot chili sauce. It was oddly cooler in temperature than the other two. The Ruby had many ingredients, both on top and in the center. Toppings were tobiko fish eggs, spicy mayo, and hot sauce; inside were deep fried shrimp, avocado, cucumber, crab, and tamago. A complementary miso soup that I wasn’t even aware of also showed up. The only criticism I would give is the rolls fell apart easily. Everything else was impeccable. Before I left, I felt compelled to try another milk drink. This was coffee-flavoured and I loved it just as much. Inside, it is tight. But you are allowed to sit down if the chairs are free. You get a nice view of cars passing by on Richmond St. The owners won me over with their friendly presence. They gave me a box for my leftovers and a second pair of chopsticks.
