God looks down every now and then to remind himself where the best tagliatelle is. Service amazing. Everything amazing.
Wife's favorite place for date nights. The olives are also to die for
We went on the recommendation of a friend and were not disappointed! After easily making a reservation through their online booking system for 915pm on a Saturday, we decided to venture downtown a bit early to see if we could sneak in a walk in spot instead. The hostess was kind enough to clear a table and move our reservation up by about 45 minutes. With the exception of the mains, there were many vegetarian options to choose from. That being said, vegans would have difficulty finding something to eat as most of the dishes were served generously with butter and cheese. I can also only assume that their pillowy soft homemade pasta is likely made with eggs. I believe half of the appetizers and three of five pastas were veggie friendly. My husband and I split the Polenta Fritters (served with fried sage and lemon), the Autumn Salad (endives, apples, roasted almonds) and a Stuffed Oyster Mushroom Pasta (with browned butter, pecorino and black truffle). Although my husband is a fairly big eater and I am pregnant, we left satisfied but not totally stuffed. The food is rich! The staff encourage you to eat slowly and savour your meals. I would recommend the three items we ordered to other diners - all delicious. The cocktail, wine and beer list was extensive and you could tell the bartenders took pride in their craft. We wanted to try the Chocolate Budino for dessert but didn't want to leave feeling over stuffed. The atmosphere is modern but still cozy. Wait staff is all in black to unify the team but they still have their own personalities with piercings, off beat haircuts and funky glasses. We didn't find it to be pretentious and the price for the quality of food and service was very fair. There was one child around 10 or 12 years old who was well behaved however, I wouldn't bring younger children here. Daniel Costa has an obvious skill for designing fine restaurants and Uccellino is a testament to his hard work and eye for detail. We have yet to try Bar Bricco but it is on the list to try next!
